An antique Swiss 8 airs rosewood cylinder music box, dated circa 1900.
The case lid is inlaid with contrasting boxwood string inlay.
The tune changes automatically each time. Each time the lever is released to the right hand side, a single air is played, and the mechanism advances automatically to the next position. Thus the 8 tunes are played sequentially.
The spring is wound by pulling the lever to the left of the barrel.
To the right of the barrel there was originally a mechanism to allow for a deposited coin to trigger the action. This is no longer operational. Otherwise, the music box is in full working order, with a lovely rich tone.
