American striking Wall Clock, by Ansonia Clock Company
A striking American ‘Regulator’ drop dial wall clock, dated circa 1900.
8 day spring- driven movement, striking the hours and the passing of the half hour on a coiled gong.
The polished walnut case has an octagonal dial surround over the drop-dial pendulum housing. The glazed pendulum door has a cross-banded walnut border.
A 12-inch two-piece dial sits behind the polished and lacquered brass bezel, fitted with flat glass.
The dial bears the trademark for Ansonia, which is repeated on the glass in the pendulum door. The dial is completely original, with black Roman numerals and black painted steel spade hands.
