Antique oval striking carriage clock by Drocourt, c.1870
A very nice original oval carriage clock by one of the best-known French carriage clock maker of the late 1800s, Drocourt.
The case is regilded, all sides fitted with bowed beveled glasses in perfect condition.
The eight day movement strikes and repeats on a coiled gong. The backplate is stamped with Drocourt’s trademark and all plates are numbered 7695. The original silvered platform has a narrow cock, and all the wheelwork has curved crossings.
The clock has a lovely dial. The white enamel Roman dial has a minute track and outer Arabic five-minute numerals. The dial is set behind an engraved gilt mask.
Original matching blued steel Breguet-style hands.
The movement is to be overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.
