Antique Silver Carriage Clock

antique-silver-clock

This late Victorian grande-sized striking carriage clock is finished in silver – either silver plate or nickel plate. Its velvet-lined moroccan leather carrying case is about the best condition I have seen for one in excess of 100 years of age. Indeed the whole clock is in fine condition.

The case stands  8 inches tall with the handle up. It has highly decorative columns to the four corners, supporting the bevelled glass panels, all without blemishes or chips.

The silvered dial mask is well-engraved with acanthus scrolls and is inset with a cream dial ring with Art Nouveau styled Arabic numerals.

The eight-day movement strikes the hours and the passing of the half hour on a mellow gong. It also has a repeat button to repeat the last hour struck. The movement is regulated by its original silvered lever platform escapement.

The movement is to be overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.
