L’Epée Moonphase Calendar Carriage Clock
A late 20th century reproduction calendar carriage clock with moonphase and calendar functions. The gold-plated brass gorge-style case retains its original gilding still in excellent condition, fitted with five beveled mineral glasses.
The mechanical 8-day 11-jewel movement has a lever platform, strike repeat alarm movement, striking the hours and the passing of the half hour on a gong. The movement is stamped MADE IN FRANCE with L’Epée’s trademark of crossed swords.
The perfect white enamel dial is signed L’Epée, with subsidiary dials below for date, day (in French) and alarm setting, the centre with a rolling moon aperture.
Complete with the box and key, the clock has been overhauled and is guaranteed for 3 years.
Height: 7” (with the handle up)
Width: 3 5/8”
Depth: 3 3/8”
L’Epée are the premier makers of carriage clock, being the last remaining Swiss makers, their quality far exceeding the Far Eastern equivalents now available. Gorge styling is the grandest style of carriage clock of all times.
