This antique porcelain carriage clock is presented for sale in immaculate condition.
The porcelain panels are original and untouched;
the front shows a restful scene of a boat on a lake with a chateau in the background, the tree branches curling around to leave the dial ring unencumbered.
the two sides show courting couples. On one side a red-coated gentleman presents a bouquet of flowers to a seated lady, in the grounds of a chateau. To the other side, a couple are enjoying some wine from a flagon, overlooked by a garden statue of a putto on a plinth.
The back door is glazed.
The case has been newly regilded and has barley-twist columns to the four corners, topped with corinthian capitals. The conforming handle folds one-way. The three beveled glasses to front, top and back are all in perfect condition.
The clock has a striking and repeating eight-day movement, retaining its original silvered lever platform. It strikes the hours and the passing of the half hour with a soft mellow tone on a coiled gong. Depressing the button on the top of the case will repeat the last hour struck.
