A Waltham 8 day size 39 gimballed deck Watch, serial number 19713122, model 1910 and dated c.1914.
The perfect 2 1/4″ silvered dial has Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds signed Waltham U.S.A., with convex bevelled glass to the bezel.
The top wind movement is marked 7 jewels. However, during WWII, a number of these were turned into deck watches by the likes of Roth Brothers. It has been upgraded from 7 to 15 jewels, now has a faceted jewelled endstone, and a whiplash regulator. These alterations were carried out to improve the performance to close on chronometer level. It retains the split bimetallic balance and Breguet hairspring.
The three-tiered double hinged top box case has inset brass corner mounts and a plaque signed Waltham.
The case is a 4 7/8″ cube.
The pictures show the movement prior to its overhaul. The watch will be sold with a three year guarantee, and the price includes VAT and delivery within UK mainland.
